Dr. David L. Deeds is the academic director of the Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at UT Dallas. Dr. Deeds joined The School of Management in 2005 as an associate professor. Prior to coming to UTD he served on the faculties of the Fox School of Management at Temple University and the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University and was instrumental in developing entrepreneurship programs at both schools. Dr. Deeds teaches both graduate and undergraduate courses in Innovation and Entrepreneurship. He received his B.A. from Claremont McKenna College and his MBA and Ph.D. from the University of Washington. His research has appeared in the Strategic Management Journal, The Journal of Business Venturing, Entrepreneurship: Theory and Practice, Research Policy and others. Prior to becoming an academic, Dr. Deeds founded LightSpeed Corporation, a company specializing in custom CAD/CAM applications. His current research interests include new ventures, alliances, venture finance, science-based entrepreneurship and the management of innovation.
